FREE SPIRIT MUAY THAI
Traditional Muay Thai in the industrial heart of Saint Paul
Governor Walz announced that all gyms will be closed from March 17 until March 27. We plan to open as soon as we are allowed.
Stop in anytime
If you want to check out the gym, then please contact Rick at the phone number to see if the gym is right for you. If you want to participate, please arrive 15 minutes early and Rick will be give an introductory boxing class. Please dress in athletic attire. Please note that we are a small gym and can only accommodate a limited number of students.
A Saint Paul, west end native, Rick has been with Kru Mike for over 20 years at gyms (such as GPX Muay Thai gym and Top Team) as the top student. Rick is no stranger to the ring and has over 50 Muay Thai fights.
Our gym is the oldest, Muay Thai-focused gym in Minnesota. Founded in 2001 by Kru (Thai for teacher) Mike under the name GPX Muay Thai. Although the location and the name have changed throughout the years, the focus on traditional Muay Thai techniques never changed.
We are a small gym with each class under 15 students. Unlike some gyms where the bulk of members are beginners (less than a year), our gym has 2-8 intermediate/advanced students with only 1 to 2 beginners. Due to these class sizes and high experience level, you will get a lot of individual attention compared to other gyms. At Free Spirit Muay Thai gym, you get the benefits of a private lesson every session.
Mon: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Tue: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Wed: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Thu: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Sun: 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Because we are a small gym, there is only one class. Each class has the following 1) warm up, 2) stretch, 3) shadow, 4) bag work, 5) pad work, 6) technique drills with a partner, 7) sparring and clinching,
The intro class is free. After that, our rates are competitive at $100 per month (paid in cash). This gets you access to the facility during the open times whenever you want (unlimited). Unlike some other gyms, we do not believe in gym contracts. Our top-notch personalized Muay Thai instruction will keep you coming back.
We will not win any awards for our space or amenities. Our 800 square foot facility is sufficient with fully padded floors and several heavy bags for you to enjoy.
Some of our members have been fighting for over 20 years and bring that experience to your training.
We have a dedicated gear storage and a changing room.
WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN A GYM?
Every gym has its own vibe. Make sure that the gym's vibe aligns with your expectations. Because of our small membership base and low attrition, our gym is like a family.
WHEN WILL I GET TO FIGHT?
This depends on your beginning skill level. However, most people can expect to put in at least 1 year of consistent training.
WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT?
Most gyms will have a sizable non-fighting population and ours is no different. Sparring, while beneficial, is completely optional. Also, because of our lack of attrition, there aren't the "personalities" that come with the larger fighting gyms since we work with each other for years.
HOW DO I CHECK IT OUT?
Walk in when we are open and speak with Rick. Your first 30 minutes of instruction are free and you can stick around and hit the bag.
